A History of Greco-India

A History of Greco-India

Panhellenism in Asia

India in Antiquity is not the subcontinent, but the eastern satrapies of Persia, conquered by the Macedonian army led by Alexander, then settled by Greeks, whose culture dominated the region through his successors and on into the modern era. Throughout these centuries of Greek culture, this region (today: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir and their neighbours), shared much with the rest of the Hellenistic world, including, in Greco-Roman times, the chrestic practice of conjuring up divine men.
